Happy National Voter Registration Day! September 22nd is a nationwide, non-partisan, coordinated push to get out the vote by registering and requesting your absentee ballot. Denison is working towards getting 100% of its students who are eligible to vote (18 years old on or before November 3rd and a U.S. Citizen) registered and ready to vote for the November 3rd 2020 General Election. Ohio’s voter registration deadline is October 5th (less than two weeks away); check your state’s registration deadline here.
If you are not already registered to vote, need to update your voter registration to reflect your current residence hall address, or want to change your voter registration, visit DU Vote’s comprehensive voter registration and ballot request online tool.
Need to request your absentee (mail-in) ballot for the upcoming election? If you haven’t you can start the process.
If you are already registered to vote and have either requested your absentee ballot OR made a plan to vote in-person, please share that with DU Votes here. Completion of this brief survey will enter you into a raffle for a $50 Amazon gift card.
Want to learn more about the hot button issues and candidates up and down the ballot this cycle? Check out Denison’s calendar of election events including debate watch parties, faculty panels on election issues, and civic dialogues here. Events will be advertised on posters, as well as on Instagram (@duvotes and @clic).
Interested in volunteering to help get fellow Denisonian’s out to vote? Go to DU Votes’ volunteer opportunity list to find upcoming volunteer opportunities (both in-person and virtual).
On Thursday, September 24th from 11:30 - 1:00 PM DU Votes, the Provost’s Office, the Lisska Center, and CLIC will be hosting an international faculty panel on international issues in regards to the 2020 election at the Reese-Shackelford Commons tent. There is no sign-up for the event, but attendance may be limited by COVID-19 capacity restrictions during the event.
We also want to invite you to participate in Political Discourse Week, Oct. 19-23. This week will focus on expressive freedoms and campus-wide special programming emphasizing political discourse in this election year. Events include presentations, letter writing to senators and representatives, a designated space to demonstrate your freedom of speech and expression and much more! Details are forthcoming.
