The national ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge has once again recognized Denison for its nonpartisan voter engagement efforts, awarding the university a silver seal for its 2022 midterm election campus voting rates.
In the awards announced Sept. 10, 2024, Denison joined more than 500 campuses receiving seals based on data from the National Study of Learning, Voting, and Engagement at Tufts University. The study found that colleges and universities had the second-highest student voter turnout in a midterm election since it began measuring.
Silver seals were awarded to schools with 30-39% voter participation in the 2022 midterms.
This is the latest of many recognitions for Denison from the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge, which supports more than 1,000 colleges and universities in nonpartisan student voter engagement.
“The ALL IN Awards were created to celebrate nonpartisan democratic engagement and the outstanding campus voter registration and turnout rates achieved by our ALL IN campuses,” said Jennifer Domagal-Goldman, executive director of the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge. “ALL IN is proud to celebrate and honor top-performing campuses, like Denison University, who demonstrate that nonpartisan student voter engagement is possible and effective.”
Following the 2020 presidential election, Denison received ALL IN’s champion award for the highest overall voter registration rate of all participating institutions. Through the efforts of DU Votes, Denison’s student-led, nonpartisan voter education and registration organization, 99.6% of eligible Denison students were registered to vote in 2020, and Denison was also recognized as a platinum seal awardee that year for an 80-89% voter participation rate.
In 2023, DU Votes was named an ALL IN Standout Nonpartisan Campus Student Voting Group.
