Chapter Recognition & Standards of Excellence
Fraternity & Sorority Life Awards
The Fraternity & Sorority Expectations program supports on-going chapter development, and recognizes chapters and councils that excel in various aspects of the fraternity and sorority experience. Individual leaders and community partners are also recognized for their contributions and accomplishments.
This event is hosted in April of each spring semester.
Standards of Excellence
The purpose of the Standards of Excellence (SOE) program is twofold. First, the information collected allows the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life (OFSL) to share the incredible work of our community and highlight where individual members, chapters, and councils are going above and beyond. Second, the SOE helps continually push our community forward in achieving the goals we’ve set to accomplish. Without a clear direction, growth is unattainable and by focusing on the values and strategic priorities of OFSL, the entire community will flourish.
The SOE highlights the 8 key areas of community values and organization development:
- Academic Excellence
- Career-Readiness
- Leadership Development
- Service & Civic Engagement
- Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Anti-Racism (IDEA)
- Social Responsibility
- Communication & Collaboration
- Membership Experience
While each area provides parameters for success, the SOE was intentionally designed to be customizable based on the unique needs of member organizations and councils. OFSL does not believe in a one size fits all approach to chapter support, and it was critical that the SOE be flexible enough to allow chapters to determine their own path for success.
