Narrative Journalism at Denison will host a showing of the documentary film “Midnight Family,” followed by a Q&A with director and producer Luke Lorentzen.
Shortlisted for the 2020 Best Documentary Oscar, “Midnight Family” follows the Ochoa family as they struggle to provide emergency medical services in Mexico City, where a shortage of government-run ambulances has jeopardized the community.
Lorentzen, an Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker, will host workshops and visit classes throughout the semester as Documentarian-in-Residence. His work as a director and cinematographer includes one of Netflix’s most-watched original series, “Last Chance U.”
The public event will take place over Zoom on Tuesday, September 8 at 7:00 PM Eastern Time. Guests must register to receive login information and directions for streaming.
The event is funded in part by the Andrew W. Mellon “Writing in Place” initiative and a gift by alumna Sue O’Donnell.
