One of the pluses of being a data analytics major, says Max Wisnefski ’24, is the ability to use your data skills across many different domains.
Last summer, Wisnefski conducted data research on the Eastern Red Cedar for an NSF-funded project with professor Sarah Supp. This year, his research about the impact of Tony Awards on Broadway show financial returns won the only honorable mention in a national contest sponsored by the American Statistical Association.
Denison data analytics students consistently perform well in the highly competitive contest. Wisnefski’s win adds to a streak of recognition for Denison since 2020.
Wisnefski’s award-winning project encompassed 40 years of data that examined correlations between shows that won Tony Awards and their financial success. “I’m interested in being able to tell a story around the data,” he said. “I feel that being a DA major with those skill sets allows me to work in so many different domains.”
