Sam Evarts ‘20 shares his thoughts about a summer internship with CB Insights.
My name is Sam Evarts and I’m a 2019 CB Insights IU intern. I’m currently a senior pursuing my BA in Data Analytics with a concentration in Economics at Denison University.
One of the things I love most about my job is the freedom to pursue my own ideas and findings in the data on the CBI platform. The IU produces some of the highest quality data-driven business insights, and it’s been great to work with the senior analysts and have them guide me in my own work. Additionally, being a research analyst on the IU is an extremely educational experience. You learn how to properly frame ideas for briefs, do the research to back it up, and concisely convey your point while maintaining its impact.
As someone who has been interested in venture capital and private equity for a long time, I can say with confidence that my time at CBI has taught me more about those industries than any other experience.
Getting the “back end” look at funding rounds, business partnerships, and investor trends was not only cool, but extremely helpful in understanding the startup ecosystem.
