A student with a disability who thinks they may need an accommodation to access a campus program, activity, or service should contact the Academic Resource Center (ARC) staff to discuss their specific needs.

ARC requires advance notice to evaluate the request and provide notice or arrangements for any accommodation. Denison University relies on the Academic Resource Center to verify the need for reasonable accommodations based on documentation on file in this office.

Intake process and registration

  1. Intake form: Required documentation must be uploaded to the MyAccomodations portal. Documentation is considered valid if the date of the testing is within three years of college enrollment. An IEP or 504 Plan may be considered sufficient documentation for certain types of accommodations requested.
  2. Intake appointment: Once documentation has been received and deemed sufficient, a member of the ARC staff will contact you to schedule an intake appointment.
    • The intake appointment is an opportunity for you to share your experience in a confidential, supportive setting with a disability services professional and explore accommodations to support your academic experience. The session usually includes:
      • Documentation review
      • Needs discussion about challenges the student may face in the academic environment and how accommodations could help.
      • Services and support overview
      • Guidance on how to communicate with instructors and use the accommodations effectively.
  3. Accommodations letter: After the intake appointment, you will receive an accommodation determination letter via your MyAccommodate portal. Your faculty members will be copied on this communication.

    The accommodation letter is not meant to be a final statement of accommodation. It is important that you communicate with your instructors about the specifics of your accommodation. If you have any questions about your accommodation implementation, please email disabilityservices@denison.edu.
  4. Faculty notification: Each semester, you must submit a Faculty Notification Request via the MyAccommodate portal. The request informs ARC that we should send your current faculty members a copy of the accommodations letter.
