Interns at the Denison Museum spend time with antiquities, art and objects that enhance their learning, and deepen their connection to their research. They learn how to handle and clean ceramics, printed materials, textiles, wooden and painted objects. And they learn how to research items and curate collections. It’s all about observing, thinking and asking critical questions.
Zoe Adam is a senior at Denison from Columbus, Ohio. She is a global commerce major and a Spanish minor with a concentration in Latin American and Caribbean studies. Zoe is involved with Yoga Club and Big Red fitness club on campus. At the Denison Museum, Zoe is a social media and marketing intern. This past summer, she interned with REACH, teaching middle schoolers financial literacy.
If she could live anywhere in the world, Zoe would live in Spain for the tasty food!
Maya Barlow is a senior cinema and data analytics major with a psychology concentration from West Hartford, Connecticut. Maya is the co-president of the Denison Film Society and is a data analytics fellow. At the museum, Maya is a media intern who films and edits interviews with artists and curates promotional material for current museum installations. Last summer, they were a research intern at OSU Epidemiology at the College of Public Health.
Last Spring, Maya studied film at FAMU in Prague, Czechia! If they could live anywhere in the world, Maya would live in Jacksonhole, Wyoming, because it is so stunning and peaceful!
Fatimah Bey is a senior at Denison from Chicago, Illinois. She is a studio art major pursuing a BFA. Fatimah works at The Bandersnatch, a very inclusive and welcoming late-night cafe on campus, and she is a teacher’s assistant for the studio art department. At the museum, Fatimah is a collections intern. Last summer, she traveled to the west coast with her family. She went to Mexico, Los Angeles, and Disneyland! The summer left her refreshed and enthused to return to campus.
If Fatimah could live anywhere in the world, she would live in Japan because she enjoys the hustle and bustle of city life and thinks it would be just the right balance of city and country life.
Ellie Blasko is a senior triple major in art history, global commerce, and piano performance from Poland, Ohio. Ellie is on the track & field team, part of different campus music ensembles, and a senior admissions docent. At the museum, Ellie is a collection database Intern who has written many object labels for the database. Last summer, she worked at Christie’s Auction House at their Rockefeller Plaza office.
If she could go anywhere in the world, Ellie would live in Florence, Italy, because of the nice weather and the excellent art and architecture.
Emma Driver is a senior at Denison from Wilton, Connecticut. She is a classical studies major with a double minor in latin and music performance. When she’s not in the museum, Emma is a member of the orchestra, an orchestra librarian, and an Eta Sigma Phi officer. At the museum, Emma is an exhibition intern. Last summer, she did a field school in Pylos, Greece, for three weeks, where she got to work and gain real-life experience at an archaeological site.
Last semester, Emma studied abroad in Bath, England, learning and having a lot of fun traveling around the UK! Part of the program was an internship, so she got to work at the Roman Baths and learn about the operations of heritage sites and museums. If she could live anywhere in the world, Emma would live in Maine. She visited a few years ago and enjoyed the beautiful nature and coast. She says it’d be cool to live there for at least a year or so and just be able to be surrounded by nature all the time!
Josh Eppenauer is first-year cinema major and a computer science minor from Kansas City, Missouri. Josh is a part of the Film Production Club, DASU, and the Denison Christian Community. At the museum, Josh is a media intern who produces informational, spotlight, and event recap videos for the museum. Last summer, he took a road trip to San Diego from Kansas City and back to Denison for June-O. He also shot some promotional videos for a small restaurant in my area for social media.
If he could live anywhere in the world, Josh would live in Cinque Terre, Italy, because it is stunning and sits right on the Mediterranean Sea, with coastal trains that take you around the area!
Noah Fishman is a sophomore at Denison from New York. He is a journalism and cinema double major. Noah is global ambassador and is involved in The Denisonian and Culinary Club. At the museum, Noah is a media intern, where he films and produces videos for the museum. Last summer, he went on a road trip with his sister, visited some friends in Oregon, explored Iceland with his parents, and worked at an outdoor barbecue restaurant in his hometown.
Next semester, Noah is studying abroad in Prague. If he could live anywhere in the world, Noah would live somewhere like Colorado or Montana, where he could just walk for miles and miles, amazed by natural beauty!
Ava Goodwin is a senior English literature major and a studio art minor from New York City. At the museum, she is an exhibition and writing intern. Ava is a Pi Beta Phi sorority member, on the squash team, and works on the Denisonian student paper. This past summer, she had a marketing internship in Copenhagen.
During her junior year, Ava studied in Barcelona, Spain! If she could live anywhere in the world, Ava would go to Madrid, Spain, because of the people, the food, and being far from the USA!
Seyeong Hanlim is a political science major with a double minor in philosophy and studio art from Ansan, South Korea.
At the museum, Seyeong is an exhibition and writing intern who assists with exhibition research and writing for the website. On campus, Seyeong is a scheduling manager and is involved in the writing center, a board member, the University Conduct Board & University Honors Committee, and usher for the Vail Series. This past summer, Seyeong held a solo art exhibit at the Kimhongdo Museum in Ansan, South Korea, which hundreds of kindergarteners visited in one day.
If she could live anywhere in the world, Seyeong would live in Ireland because she has never been there and some of her favorite artists and musicians are from there!
Isabelle Monyak is a junior from Atlanta, Georgia, and is a studio art major. At the museum, she is an exhibition and writing intern. On campus, Isabelle works for admissions as a campus tour guide and is a part of the Yoga Club. This past summer, Isabelle participated in Denison’s Summer Scholars program, where she researched alongside her Religion professor.
This upcoming Spring, Isabelle is studying abroad at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. If she could live anywhere in the world, Isabelle would live in Ireland because of the history, the beauty, and the culture!
Talia Ferguson-Nieves is a senior English literature major and a music minor at Denison. On campus, Talia has worked in productions of Rocky Horror and You On The Moors Now. They are currently doing senior research and are also in a chamber orchestra group. At the museum, Talia is an exhibitions and special projects intern. Last summer, they had an internship at a gallery called Contemporary Art Matters in Columbus, where they got to do a translation project for a client’s private collection of Cuban Art.
If they could live anywhere in the world, Talis would live in Tuscany because they love the architecture and live near the coast!
Coco Ogden is a senior at Denison from New York City. She is an economics major and a studio art minor. Coco is on the varsity squash team and is in the equestrian club. At the museum, Coco is a social media intern. Last summer, she had a marketing internship in Copenhagen.
Last year, Coco studied abroad in London for her Fall semester and Copenhagen for her Spring semester. If she could live anywhere in the world, Coco would live in London because she loves the city and culture!
Ellie Schrader is a senior at Denison from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. She is a studio art major working towards a BFA. On campus, she is the editor for the Bullsheet and is the RISO Lab TA. At the museum, Ellie is collections intern who helps organize objects in the collection, pulls objects for class visits, and does object research in the collections database. Last summer, Ellie did collections work at the Denison Museum and Ohio History Connection, where she dealt with artwork and archaeological artifacts.
If she could live anywhere in the world, Ellie would live in Ireland because her family is from there, and the countryside is beautiful. She is very interested in their prehistoric visual culture!
