John P. Maher P’23 is Vice Chairman of CBRE, the world’s largest commercial real estate services company. CBRE Group provides property and facilities management, leasing, brokerage, appraisal and valuation, asset management, financing, and market research services in over 490 offices worldwide.
John lives and works in New York City, where the majority of his business occurs; although many of his clients have him negotiate transactions for them all over the world. He has worked to solve client needs in cities such as London, Paris, Tokyo, Beijing, Buenos Aires, Geneva, San Juan and San José, and has led to the leasing aggregate value of close to $10 billion.
On the agency side, he represents Boston Properties’ world-renowned GM Building, and has been the leasing agent for Class A properties globally. Last year alone, his transactions included: a 990,000 sq. ft. renewal and expansion for Publicis at 375 Hudson Street; the sale of the 640,000 sq.ft. leasehold for the USPS’ Morgan North to Tishman Speyer Properties; and co-leading the leasing team in the conclusion of the two million sq. ft. lease-up campaign for at 1271 Avenue of the Americas.
While John is a 1983 graduate of NYU’s Stern School of Business, his wife is a slightly more recent graduate of Denison and he is the father of James, Denison Class of 2023.
