Tutoring Program

All students can benefit from academic support. Whether you are experiencing difficulty or want to maintain a high level of performance, ARC Tutoring can support your unique learning goals. We encourage students to commit to regularly scheduled, ongoing tutoring sessions to make tutoring and its benefits part of their college routine.

Request a tutor

By creating a TutorOcean account you will have access to the availability of tutors based on the courses you are taking. Keep in mind, tutoring is a limited resource and is available on a first come, first served basis. Submit your requests beginning the second week of each semester to ensure priority.

You don’t! Tutors are employees of the Academic Resource Center and are paid as part of their campus employment.

After you’ve scheduled an appointment with your tutor you should think about specific goals you have for sessions. Bring your list of desired outcomes to your sessions and the tutor will help you work towards achieving your goals. Some examples:

• Dive deeper on course content
• Discuss your lecture notes
• Review for an exam
• Learn techniques for applying information
• Improve your time management and organization

Students need to be engaged in the tutoring process by asking questions, communicating their needs, and working independently between sessions to practice skills learned during tutoring. In addition to tutoring, we encourage students to talk with professors and utilize their office hours to clarify expectations and for guidance.

You should be in regular communication with your professors and academic advisors. Other sources of help include:
