Senior experience: For my senior experience project, I surveyed Denison students about the nature, frequency, and intensity of their physical pain as well as the modalities they used to reduce pain.
Post-graduation plans: Doctor of Physical Therapy Student at Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio.
Peyton Gaumer ’19
Senior experience: I examined the effects of weight bearing activity on bone fibrous orientation and compression resistance.
Post-graduation plans: Attending medical school at the University of Kentucky this fall.
Maya Hodson ’19
Senior experience/research focus: I investigated ways on improving personal care accommodations in public restrooms for student-menstruators.
Post-graduation plans: Working part-time in Columbus and preparing to apply to Physician Assistant programs.
Brandon Kozak ’19
Senior experience: I examined the psychosocial responses by student-athletes during different phases of injury, focusing on the mental rehabilitation work through athletic trainers with their college athletes during injury and when they return to play.
Post-graduation plans: Working as a STNA in the Columbus area, while also applying to schools to receive a masters in physician’s assistant studies and work in an orthopedic and sports medicine setting.
Bronwyn McGary ’19
Senior experience: I studied the benefits of recreational therapy for children with special needs through Equine Therapy and Recreational Therapy, PATH International
Post-graduation plans: I am moving to Sun Valley, Idaho and obtaining a therapeutic equine riding instructor’s certification for children/adults with special needs. I will also work towards a recreational therapy license for children/adults with special needs and military veterans with disabilities.
Valesha Province ’19
Senior experience: I explored the experiences of first-generation student-athletes at Denison.
Post-graduation plans: Working on M.S. in exercise science, with a concentration in strength and conditioning at Appalachian State University
Duncan Tulimeri ’19
Senior experience: I looked at the implication of muscular factors on the agonist/antagonist relationship between the quadriceps and hamstrings.
Senior research: I explored the physiological effects of dry needling and athletic trainers preparation for dry needling. Post-graduation plans: Attend the University of Delaware in pursuit of a Ph.D. in biomechanics and movement science.
