In the summer of 2023, Grace Han ’24, a global health and dance double major, spent three weeks in Japan as a research fellow. Han interviewed immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers about their experiences regarding their healthcare needs and opportunities. Her research will be part of a forthcoming documentary.

Her courses in health psychology, psychopharmacology, and medical anthropology were helpful in preparing for the research fellowship.

Han’s second experiential learning opportunity — an internship with the YMCA of Central Ohio — gave her an entirely different view of the healthcare field. As a people, culture, and equity intern, she worked with a Denison alum and gained skills in event programming, logistics, and coordination.
