During an internship with a refugee resettlement agency in Columbus, Ben Marshall ’24 helped caseworkers for newly arrived refugees to address the refugees’ primary health needs. They worked together to find health care providers and transportation to appointments.
Marshall found the experience was extremely valuable, packing a lot of real-life learning into a small period of time. “This hands-on experience really provided me with the same amount of information I could receive from a semester-long class and is something I would encourage every global health major to look into,” Marshall says.
Marshall’s long-term goals include going into that line of work. He feels the global health major and the internship have helped him decide on a career that will “provide for my community to help make sure everyone has equal access to basic needs.”
