Assistant Professor of Anthropology and Sociology Shiri Noy shares insights on political and cultural sociology in this podcast from the International Research Network for the Study of Science and Belief in Society.
“In this episode, we talk with Shiri about the value of quantitative and qualitative methods in understanding public attitudes to science and religion in the US; how theoretical insights from political and cultural sociology help to better make sense of this relationship, and, for reasons that will become clear, we also talk quite a lot about Battenberg cake.”
Noy employs quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods approaches to her research interests which center on political culture, globalization, and development.
She is currently working on projects that explore public perspectives on science and religion, both in the United States and internationally. Her collaborative work with Tim O’Brien on science and religion has been published in American Sociological Review, Sociology of Religion, and Sociological Quarterly among other outlets.
