Mental Health First Aid

This national program teaches skills for recognizing and responding to mental illness and substance misuse. Students receive a certification after completing the 8-hour training.

ADHD and Academic Anxiety

Productivity Circle is a psychoeducational/skill building group for students with ADHD to develop the habits and strategies to function in academia: Hosted weekly by professionals in counseling services and the academic resource center.

The Body Positive Series

Learn evidence-based techniques to address body shame. The Body Positive Model comprises five skills or “competencies” that promote a confident relationship with your body, focused on prevention and early intervention of disordered eating and body image struggle—offered by trained Denison staff.

Paws and Relax

Visits with local therapy dogs are a must on campus! Many of our furry friends have been visiting Denison students for years. Connecting with dogs can help students strengthen compassion, relax, and remember their furry friends waiting at home. Offered daily.

Fresh Check

Fresh Check Day creates an approachable and hopeful atmosphere for students to dialogue about mental health and suicide prevention. The day includes interactive expo booths, peer-to-peer messaging, cross-departmental programming, free food and entertainment, and exciting prizes and giveaways. Held annually in April.

Recovery

Students in recovery engage socially in a substance-free space. Students are welcome to discuss their experiences of maintaining a life of sobriety if they wish. A licensed chemical dependency counselor is available to speak individually or with the group. Held Weekly.

There are lots of ways to belong at Denison — more than 250 student groups are self-organized around identity, favorite activities, club sports, and more. Find your way to get involved!
