The Denison Department of Music presents the TUTTI Festival Concert VI: Friday Night Fiction. Michael Lockwood Crouch and ETHEL, Denison’s Ensemble-in-Residence collaborate in a memorable night where fiction meets music. Sit back and enjoy excerpts from some of your favorite contemporary fiction writers as Michael Lockwood Crouch narrates and ETHEL sets the mood with music to accompany each story. One of the most interesting aspects of TUTTI is when different disciplines “collide” and create something new. This evening, actor and award-winning audiobook narrator, Michael Lockwood Crouch narrates excerpts from famous contemporary fiction as ETHEL performs music that is inspired by these books. Composers Ralph Farris, Ching-chu Hu, Dorothy Lawson, Cory Lee, HyeKyung Lee, Felicia Sandler, Tom Schnauber, and Zachery Meier’s music set the stage for these texts. In addition, ETHEL performs Pulitzer Prize winning composer Julia Wolfe’s quartet, “Early that summer.”
TUTTI is a week-long festival celebrating new music and art, bringing artists across disciplines to Denison and the central Ohio community. This year’s festival features Chicago-based Fifth House Ensemble, Denison’s Ensemble-in-Residence ETHEL, and other artists in a multitude of concerts.
