Denison’s Studio Art program welcomes Ann Hamilton presenting an artist talk.

Internationally renowned visual artist Hamilton creates sensory large-scale multi-media installations. Noted for a dense accumulation of materials, her ephemeral environments create immersive experiences that poetically respond to the architectural presence and social history of their sites.

Among her many honors are the MacArthur Fellowship (Genius Award), Heinz Award, United States Artists Fellowship, NEA Visual Arts Fellowship, Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Award, Skowhegan Medal for Sculpture and the Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship. She has represented the United States in the 1991 Sao Paulo Bienal, the 1999 Venice Biennale, and has exhibited extensively around the world.

Her recent installation “the event of a thread,” commissioned by Park Avenue Armory and on view from December 5, 2012 - January 6, 2013 was selected by the International Association of Art Critics United States as the best project in a public space in 2012.

Ann Hamilton is presently a Distinguished Professor of Art at The Ohio State University.
