Julie Torres is a Hudson NY based artist and co-director of LABspace gallery, a vibrant cultural hub in Hillsdale, NY. She runs it with her partner, artist Ellen Letcher. Her goal is to develop connections. In particular, amongst likeminded individuals inspiring their artistic practice and continuing curatorial work.
She curated a two-part show that was covered by Huffpost. In the show she displayed her paintings and invited artists from outside Bushwick. Those artists then invited local artists that they adored. This goes to show how important community is to her. She has also been covered by WSJ, Hyperallergic, The Brooklyn Rail, Two Coats of Paint, Chronogram, and Gothamist.
