“Hype4homer” translates and adapts ancient Greek epic and lyric poetry from its original language into musical audiobooks and live performance-pieces using the linguistic, cultural, and artistic idioms of contemporary hip hop and R&B. Join us for performance of a selection from an unabridged translation of Homer’s “Iliad” into the work’s first hip-hop audio book- “The Trilliad.”

Performance by Brandon Bourgeois, PhD assistant professor of classics at the University of Southern California.

Sponsored by: Departments of Classics and Communication, Black Studies, the Denison Museum, and the Africanists Research Table.

In conjunction with the Black Studies Program 50th anniversary celebration.
