Denison University’s Beck Series presents the Home Series, an Evening of Poetry and Music, with special guest ETHEL and featuring David Baker, Professor of English and Thomas B. Fordham Chair of Creative Writing, and Ann Townsend, Professor of English and Director of Creative Writing. This event celebrates the publication of two new collections of poetry, Townsend’s Dear Delinquent and Baker’s Swift: New and Selected Poems. A book signing and reception will follow in the Faculty Common.
Baker is the author of twelve books of poetry and six collections of criticism. He has received fellowships and awards from the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Poetry Society of America, among other honors. He is the poetry editor of The Kenyon Review.
Townsend is the author of three books of poetry and the editor, with David Baker, of a collection of essays, Radiant Lyre: on Lyric Poetry. She has received fellowships and awards from the Lannan Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts, among other honors, and is a co-founder of the national literary nonprofit organization, VIDA: Women in Literary Arts.
