Denison students studying with the CIEE program in Shanghai increased their career network as they met with international alumni on Alumni Connection Day.
“The day was a great success! Students connected afterward to continue the conversation over dinner,” says Dr. Yanfei Fu, Program Manager of CIEE Shanghai.
Denison alumni Felix Le ‘18 and Zhihao Cao ‘16 joined alumni from other universities to offer their unique perspectives as international citizens in global careers.
“They shared a lot of insights into their professional fields and gave valuable advice to students,” says Rosa Lee, assistant director for International Student Career Exploration. Students connected afterward to continue the conversation over dinner. “We received a ton of great feedback from students saying they gained a new understanding of their own career direction and development.”
Shenjie Yu’ 22, philosophy/political science/economics major attended the event. “It was really helpful for me to meet Zhihao and Felix as I am doing an internship this summer and thinking about my future plans after graduation. Both of them are super nice and they shared a lot of their true feelings and helpful experience they learned from their work.”
“They gave us a few tips on finding our passions and making connections with our jobs. Overall, it was a wonderful experience to meet them!” She added, “Some other students also reached out to them personally after the event to ask for some more advice.”
About the Denison in Shanghai program:
In Spring 2021, Denison partnered with CIEE, one of the largest and most respected study abroad providers in the world, to organize and run a unique program in Shanghai.
In the CIEE program, Denison students learned from an extensive number of Denison-approved courses on the Shanghai campus of East China Normal University. The classes were taught in English, and participants studied alongside hundreds of Chinese students studying at other U.S. universities. These included students associated with UPenn, Syracuse, Tulane and Babson.
