Actor Christa Nannos ‘12 unknowingly battled Lyme disease more than 12 years. Her new book, “Tick Tock, It’s LYME O’clock: A Warrior’s Guide to Reclaiming Health & Happiness,” details her journey and offers advice for others to jump start their own healing.
Lyme disease is the most common vector-borne disease in the United States. But 20-30% of infected people don’t exhibit the most recognizable symptom, a “bulls-eye” rash, and many symptoms are similar to the flu.
Nannos shares that she “silently suffered for more than a decade before getting correctly diagnosed with Lyme disease.”
“I was sick my entire time at Denison, and it took me 10.5 years to get answers. I’m finally healing and I wrote a book about it so I can help others heal too. It’s been a #1 new release and best seller on Amazon, which is so cool!”
Nannos was bitten by the tick as a child, but her symptoms were mostly dormant until she turned 19 years old. After getting diagnosed at 29, she dove headfirst into treatments and for the past 2 years has been exploring conventional medicine as well as alternative therapies.
“I continue to heal but has made it her mission to help others side-step the trials she’s faced and find happiness along the way,” she says.
