Africa Week includes a series of panels, talks, and performances. A student panel discussion on Tuesday, October 29th is entitled “Africa: Myths and Realities”. A faculty panel discussion on Thursday, October 31st is about the importance of African studies and liberal arts: “What do African Studies bring to the Liberal Arts?”.
Two poetic musicians, Alima Hamel (poet, singer, guitar) and Vincent Ferrand (poet, singer, double bass), will share their experience and performance entitled “Between Algeria and France: Women’s Identity, Immigration and Intercultural Artistic Creation”
- Talk: Wednesday Oct. 30 at 5:30 in Higley 105
- Concert: Thursday Oct. 31st at 5pm on the 3rd Floor of Slayter
The week closes with a talk given by Dr. Bryan Mukandi on “Grounds: An African philosophical reading of movement, possibility and liberty” and later closing off the day with final dance performance of “When Birds Refused to Fly” through the Vail Series on Friday, October 1st.
