International Studies Chairperson Taku Suzuki reports that, “We are proud of the all accomplishments by the faculty, staff, and students of the program who made this year fruitful. Among the highlights are: the launching of the LIGA (Modern Languages, International Studies, Global Commerce, and Area Studies) Collective; LIGA majors kick-off event; 14th annual Human Rights Film Festival; Refugee Awareness Week; Arab American Museum trip; Weaving the Map performance (Dr. Isis Nusair); 5th annual Great Lakes Colleges Association International Studies Student Conference; and Sri Lankan performing group’s residency through the GLCA Global Crossroads “Challenging Borders: Embodied Cross-Border Encounters through Dance and Music.” I would like to thank the student workers, Alex Chin, Rebeka Sok, Ha Le, Nisana Biswa and Huihao “Isaac” Wang, for all the work they put into to make these events possible. Thank you also to INTL Student Representatives, Em Bennett and Becca Lind, for being a great communicator between the program committee and students.”
