Meredith Holgerson ’09, an assistant professor at Cornell University in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, has been selected as a 2023 Early Career Fellow of the Ecological Society of America.
Holgerson graduated from Denison with a double major in biology and environmental studies. Now an assistant professor at Cornell University, Holgerson’s research focuses on pond and wetland greenhouse gas emissions, carbon sequestration, ecosystem productivity, and how community dynamics influence ecosystem processes.
She received her M.S. from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, and her Ph.D. from Yale University. For her postdoctoral research, Holgerson held a Smith Conservation Research Fellowship.
The Ecological Society of America is pleased to announce its 2023 Fellows. The Society’s fellowship program recognizes the many ways in which its members contribute to ecological research, communication, education, management and policy. This year, the ESA Governing Board has confirmed seven new Fellows and ten new Early Career Fellows.
