Associate Professor of Environmental Studies Olivia Aguilar presented during a panel discussion at a COSI (Columbus’ Center of Science & Industry) diversity and inclusion program, The Color of Science.
The program highlighted the contributions of women and persons of color to modern science and engineering.
Panelists were asked to share their background and their path to science.
Aguilar says, “I spoke about growing up in a good school district that afforded me many opportunities and then changing my major from Political Science to Horticulture Science in the middle of my college years and finding my passion for science. I then just briefly talked about what it’s like to work in academia and the challenges and successes for people of color in my field.”
Associate Professor of Biology Ayana Hinton also attended with many of her female students.
