Denison junior Casey Cempre was named North Coast Athletic Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week after helping the Big Red post a 2-1 record at the Mary Washington Invitational this past weekend in Fredericksburg, Va.
Cempre compiled an overall record of 6-0 to lead the Big Red at Mary Washington last weekend. The junior picked up all three of his singles victories at fourth singles, while his three doubles victories came with senior teammate Andrew Marczak at the second flight.
As a team, the Big Red defeated 20th-ranked N.C. Wesleyan (7-2) and Vassar (8-1), while their only loss of the event came to No. 28 Mary Washington, 6-3. Denison returns to action on Saturday when they host regionally-ranked Kalamazoo at 1 p.m.
