Biography

I completed my MS in Interdisciplinary Ecology, with a concentration in Agroecology at the University of Florida and my PhD in Rural Sociology at The Ohio State University. I have worked in agriculture and community development for the past 20 years as a Peace Corps volunteer, vegetable grower, Customs inspector and serial community garden starter. My current research focuses on social networks, specifically the impact of networks and social infrastructure on community economic development policy and resilience planning (mostly in the food system).
