Lori Kumler
Born and raised in central Ohio, I departed after high school and lived in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Oregon, Maryland, Washington D.C., Rio de Janeiro, and Michigan before returning to Ohio. I’ve been an educator in many contexts: secondary social studies teacher and professor/researcher in the social sciences. I love asking questions and investigating answers, data analysis, and learning how to use new technology.
Over the years I’ve taught courses in the social sciences, natural sciences, and humanities; I bring an interdisciplinary mindset to my work. I have undertaken numerous research projects from design to publication/dissemination, including an examination of water policy implementation in Brazil, a content analysis of climate change standards in K12 social studies education, and mixed methods survey-based projects (two projects examined factors that encourage college student voting and another project focused on participation and equity in girls’ public school athletic programs). I have used a wide variety of technology in all my endeavors and am happy to help you harness technology in your own teaching and research.
