Biography
Kelsi Morrison-Atkins is a scholar of New Testament and Early Christian Studies. Kelsi’s research focuses on ancient “dress codes” and the role of clothing practices in shaping debates about ethics, politics, and theology in early assemblies in Christ. Her dissertation, The Rhetoric of Dress and Adornment and the Construction of Identity in Early Christianity, analyzes the ways in which early Christ followers variously deployed, adapted, and/or resisted cultural ideologies of dress and adornment on both sides of struggles for the equality of women, the enslaved, and other marginalized groups within the movement. Outside of her academic work, Kelsi is a devoted craftivist and lover of all things handmade.
