Denison University announces that students can now access Bloomberg Terminals, used by leading business and finance professionals worldwide for data, news and analytics. Denison is the latest liberal arts college to provide this advanced resource to its students, faculty and staff.
“We’re absolutely delighted to give our students access to the Bloomberg Terminal and all the information available via this professional platform,” said Provost Kim Coplin. “They can use the Terminals to read financial news, perform market analyses, and access current and historical data. The Bloomberg Terminals will give them real-life skills that will prepare them well for financial professions across the nation and the globe.”
Students and faculty from all disciplines can access the data and information available on the eight Bloomberg Terminals across campus. Four will be in Fellows Hall, and available 24/7 with a Denison ID card. The remaining four will be in the Doane Library Learning Commons and are accessible during library open hours. Bloomberg data will be useful for students of global commerce and international studies, as well as financial economics. Students can learn how to access the information through tutorials.
“Many of our economics classes will incorporate assignments that require training in at least one of these four Bloomberg modules: Economic Indicators, Currencies, Fixed Income, and Equities,” said Fadhel Kaboub, associate professor of economics and president of the Binzagr Institute for Sustainable Prosperity. “The students who do all four modules will get a formal certification from Bloomberg, which is very helpful for finding internships and entry level positions in the financial industry. Our students now have a great resource to deepen their research, strengthen their academic writing, and enhance their quantitative analysis.”
