Conrad F. Wuorinen ’16, from Gahanna, Ohio (43230), has been elected to the Denison University Board of Trustees as the recent student trustee. Wuorinen will assume his position on the board July 1, 2016. Wuorinen earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Denison in economics and in chemistry. He is working as a financial analyst in Huntington Bank's treasury group.
“As a recent student trustee, he will add a very welcome perspective that will be helpful to and informative for our board members,” said Denison President Adam Weinberg. “I admire the way Conrad lived the life of a Denison student with a serious commitment to academics, intellectual passions that cut across the academic disciplines and an ability to embrace and excel in both his curricular and co-curricular pursuits.”
At Denison, Wuorinen received a Distinguished Leadership Award, a Park National Bank Scholarship in Economics, an OFIC Scholarship, and a Founders Scholarship. In addition to his academic excellence, for which he achieved dean’s list status and Cum Laude Recognition, Wuorinen has achieved success in athletics, as captain of the 2016 NCAA Division III Champion Men’s Swimming and Diving Team. He was awarded 14 individual NCAA All American and three NCAA Academic All American honors, as well as being named a James T. Glerum Jr. Top 50 Scholar-Athlete. Wuorinen also served as a head resident and resident assistant in the residence halls, and he is a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, where he served as house chair.
“I am incredibly grateful for my liberal arts education and I loved my time on The Hill. My experience at Denison, in large part, was dictated by the close knit-community and relationships I developed over my four years. This second home has been crucial to the growth of my classmates and me, and I look forward to contributing to the ongoing success of the university.”
“I am excited to continue my involvement with Denison as a student trustee. As a Columbus native, I am particularly interested in strengthening the relationship between Central Ohio employers and Denison students, which supports the board’s recent strategic plan.”
