The Dispatch Media Group has announced that Alan Miller, a Denison faculty member in the Department of Communication, has been promoted to the position of editor of The Columbus Dispatch, Central Ohio’s largest newspaper.
Miller has served as managing editor of the paper since 2004 and was named as interim director in June of 2015, prior to being named editor. He has been associated with Denison University’s Department of Communication since 1999, teaching courses on writing and advising the college’s student-run newspaper, The Denisonian.
“Denison students have benefitted for many years from Alan’s expertise and skillful guidance around journalistic research and writing,” said Laurel Kennedy, Denison University vice president for student development. “His teaching approach encourages our students to develop polished writing skills in the classroom and to be fair and ethical newspaper professionals. We are thrilled to see that his accomplishments have been recognized with this promotion.”
