Denison University announces that the Granville Golf Club has been renamed as the Denison Golf Club at Granville, and that the Donald Ross-designed public golf course will reopen in March.
“While we have renamed the golf course to reflect Denison’s ownership and investment in the facility, we are maintaining the gorgeous course architecture, public access and talented staff, including golf pro Rodney Butt, and superintendent Scott Weimers,” said Seth Patton, vice president for Finance and Management at Denison. “We’re very confident that, under the expert management by Davey Golf, the Denison Golf Club at Granville will prosper and continue to be an important asset for our community.” He added, “The new name also will signal a strong connection to Denison, which we hope will make it even more attractive to both alumni and students, while perhaps aiding in recruitment of student-athletes.”
Denison is updating and remodeling the clubhouse and has purchased 60 new golf carts for the facility. Columbus Hospitality, which operates the Granville Inn, also owned by Denison, will operate the food service for the golf club.
“We anticipate opening in March, with the assistance of Mother Nature,” said Ben Cavey, regional operations manager for Davey Golf, a division of Davey Tree Expert Co. “We look forward to introducing new programs and promotions to the Denison Golf Club. It’s important to us that we maintain the excellence of this historic course, and also that we make it a friendly and enjoyable experience for everyone who plays here.”
