Forbes recently recognized Denison University in an article about the company’s social media push for participants in its America’s Top Colleges rankings. In the article, Denison was touted for its beautiful campus and social-media savvy students.
Each year Forbes ranks the top U.S. colleges based on graduation rate, student satisfaction, post-graduate success and student debt. This year, Forbes added a fifth element and asked college students, faculty and staff to submit their own reasons why their institution should be listed among the best colleges in the country. Participants have been invited to share photos, fun facts, traditions and quirks about their campus with Forbes via social media. The campaign is now in its second week and is scheduled to conclude with publication of the list on July 30.
Over the years, Denison has consistently been placed among the very best on the annual Forbes list of America’s Top Colleges, focusing on the quality of teaching and learning, and placing special emphasis on the return on a family’s investment in a college education. Denison fares particularly well when students answer questions such as: Will my classes be interesting? Is it likely I will graduate in four years? Will I incur a ton of debt getting my degree? And once I get out of school, will I get a good job and be a leader in my chosen profession? In prior years, Forbes also has noted the college’s history and some folklore that has been passed down by generations of students and the publication even has mentioned Denison’s celebrated athletic prowess and the mountain-climbing exploits of 1909 alumnus Kirtley Mather, who named tallest peak in Alaska’s Aleutian Peninsula after his alma mater.
