Denison University’s vibrant liberal arts education produces life-long innovators and entrepreneurs. Denison entrepreneurial alumni from across the country and a wide range of businesses will share insights and resources at the inaugural Denison Entrepreneurship Summit, taking place on Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 19 and 20, on the Denison campus. The summit, titled ReMix, is created and led by Denison alumni, designed to help Denisonians at all stages of their enterprising journey to learn, grow and achieve.
ReMix is an opportunity for professional growth and development. Alumni and student entrepreneurs, innovators, creators and change agents will attend for two days of networking, sharing stories and building connections with fellow Denisonians. They will hear from alumni who are leaders in their industries, among them Alex Constantinople ’91, CEO of The Outcast Agency; David Howitt ’90, founder and CEO of the Meriwether Group and author of “Heed Your Call”; and Terry Jones ’70, founder of Travelocity and co-founder of Kayak.
“ReMix celebrates Denison’s alumni. They are change agents, entrepreneurs and business leaders,” said Julie Tucker ’09, assistant vice president for student development.
“Planning the Summit has brought together alumni from all industries and multiple generations. New ventures are unfolding before our eyes. In fact, two Denison entrepreneurs, Heather Stouffer ’96 with Mom Made Foods, and George Pierce ’81 with Pierce Footwear, met through our ReMix Planning Committee— and are now collaborating on a product launch. The possibilities are just beginning. The summit ‘re-mixes’ the energy, wisdom, and connections among generations of Denisonians,” said Tucker.
Chris Wolfington ‘90, a catalyst for the creation of ReMix, believes the event demonstrates Denison’s impressive history of cultivating a unique brand of entrepreneurial leaders. “Denison’s entrepreneurial alums are creating and growing businesses that are positively impacting people, the planet and communities — and they’ve been doing it for years,” he said. “ReMix will highlight the Denison connection to these enterprises and the world will learn about the creativity and can-do spirit that have been a fundamental part of the Denison culture for decades.”
