Women’s Soccer clinched its 10th NCAC conference championship with a 2-1 win over Ohio Wesleyan in October. After OWU tied up the match 1 to 1 in the 70th minute, the Big Red went ahead in the 75th on a goal by Maggie Armstrong ’19, assisted by Sam Haseltine ’19.
“Our response in those five minutes represented our core values and team culture. Under pressure we didn’t separate. We stayed together, trusted our game and each other, and won.”
—Gail Murphy, head coach
“Game-changing moments like that are always the efforts of an entire team—all you want to do is just embrace the people around you and stay in that moment for as long as you can.”
—Maggie Armstrong ’19
“This championship was not only won in this moment with Maggie and me, but won in every moment on and off the field since preseason, with every single player, coach, manager, and bus driver being an integral part of that success.”
—Sam Haseltine ’19
