Denison’s men’s swimming and diving team took home the NCAA Division III national championship in March. (The women’s swimming & diving team placed fourth.) Here’s a look at the big win from the team’s perspective.
“Instinct kind of took over. I put in the work all season and during the time it mattered most, the work just kicked in, and all I knew was that I had to get my hand to the wall first.”
—Bebe Wang ’20
“It was such an overwhelming and emotional feeling, especially the final relay. It was the end of a long journey with lots of struggles and setbacks, but standing up there on the podium after we had won the meet, I realized I didn’t regret any of it.”
—Zach Wagner ’19
“As a team, we never got caught up in scoreboard- watching. Our focus throughout the meet was on peak performance. That said, we pretty much wrapped up the championship after prelims on the third day.”
—Gregg Parini, Head Coach
