For the 1949 season, Denison Summer Theatre pitched its big blue tent exactly where the Eisner Center now stands. There were eight plays that summer, including this production of The Constant Wife. The attractive stars were recent alumnus Hal Holbrook ’48 and his wife Ruby Johnston ’50, a St. John’s Newfoundland native. In the spring of 1945, the couple met and fell in love when Holbrook was stationed at Fort Pepperrell in St. John’s, and the two were cast as prince and princess in a local production. We send belated birthday greetings to Hal, who turned 95 on February 17.
