Denison’s Beck Series, International Studies and the Great Lakes College Association Grand Challenge welcome author Sayed Kashua, a Palestinian citizen of Israel.
In a tongue-in-cheek style, Kashua addresses the problems faced by Palestinian Arabs in Israel, caught between two worlds. He writes a satirical weekly column in Hebrew for the Israeli newspaper Ha’aretz, and he is the author of three novels: “Dancing Arabs,” “Let it Be Morning,” and “Second Person Singular.” In 2011, Kashua was awarded the prestigious Bernstein Prize, an annual Israeli literary award for writers 50 years of age and younger.
He is the writer and creator of the hit Israeli TV show “Arab Labor,” now in its fourth season. His novel “Dancing Arabs” has been made into a feature film, and premiered in 2014 at the Telluride Film Festival.
