The Global Studies Seminar welcomes Denison professor Shao-yun Yang to speak about “Islam and Muslims Through Medieval and Early Modern Chinese Eyes.” In this talk, Dr. Yang will introduce and analyze some examples of Chinese writings about Islam and Muslims produced between 700 and 1600 CE, suggesting reasons for this ‘Confucianization’ of Islam in Chinese discourse.
Denison University’s Global Studies Seminars are interdisciplinary intellectual forums to discuss and debate academic and policy issues of global importance.
