Nature vs. culture

The Global Studies Seminar welcomes Jennifer Magro Algarotti, visiting assistant professor, presenting “Wilderness and other ‘Others’: Figurations of the Nature/Culture Split.” The talk will investigate the role of wilderness as the figurative “Other” to Western Culture. Algarotti will argue that figurations of wilderness reinforce patriarchal domination of other “Others” through a collective memory of wilderness.
