The Beck Series welcomes essayist and fiction writer Andrew Lam. Lam is editor and co-founder of New America Media, the country’s first and largest national collaboration and advocate of 3,000 ethnic news organizations. He’s also the author of two essay collections, Perfume Dreams: Reflections on the Vietnamese Diaspora and East Eats West: Writing in Two Hemispheres, and of a short-story collection, Birds of Paradise Lost. He was a regular commentator to NPR’s “All Things Considered” for eight years, currently blogs with the Huffington Post and has a column with the Shanghai Daily.
