The Global Studies Seminar welcomes Andy McCall presenting “Honeybee Colony Collapse: A Global Perspective. Honeybee colonies across the globe have suffered a high proportion of failure in the past ten years, which has been termed colony collapse disorder (CCD). In this presentation, McCall will explain how global trade and travel promote CCD, and some economic reasons why the media covers CCD so extensively in North America. McCall will close by detailing various statutes passed by the U.S. and the E.U. that aim to limit the spread and impact of CCD. Andy McCall is an associate professor of biology at Denison. He spent the last year studying honeybee pollination in the Sonoran desert.
