The Goodspeed Lecture Series welcomes Eliza Kent presenting “Accidental Environmentalists: Sacred Groves as Common Property Resource.” Eliza F. Kent is Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at Skidmore College. Her research focuses on Hindus, Christians and ecology in south India. She is the author of Sacred Groves and Local Gods: Religion and Environmentalism in South India (2013) and Converting Women: Gender and Christianity in Colonial South India (2004), and co-editor of Lines in Water: Religious Boundaries in South Asia (2013).
