The Global Studies Seminar presents “Developing a New Music Ensemble Pedagogy in Poland” by Jarosław Ignaszak from Denison University’s Department of Music.

Jarosław is a conductor from Krakow, Poland who is doing interesting work embedding music education within an inter generational community organization. 

Ignaszak, borned 1976, is conductor of brass bands and also a teacher. Graduate of the Academy of Music in Poznań – specialization in Conducting Brass Bands. Since 2015 conductor of the Brass Band of the Academy of Music in Kraków. Since 2004 artistic director of the “Wieniawa” Orchestra Former drum major of the Military Orchestra in Kraków. Member of the World Association of Symphonic Wind Band and Ensembles Originator of the artistic education program “Mała Wieniawa” based on the most modern methods of learning to play instruments. Conducts lectures, workshops and webinars for brass bands and is the co-author of the textbook “How to Conduct a Brass Band” published by the Main Board of the OSP. Since 2011, he has regularly participated in master classes, workshops and conferences for brass band conductors, among others in Norway, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany. For his achievements and contribution to the development of brass bands he was honored with the “Meritorious for Polish Culture” decoration awarded by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage in 2012.
