Luke Stettner was born in Alpine, NJ, in 1979. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Arizona in 2002 and his Master of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in 2005. Stettner attended the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture in 2010 and was a recipient of the 2013 Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Workspace residency program. He currently lives and works in Columbus, OH.

Stettner has held ten solo exhibitions to date, including: “Le Recul Américain”, Stene Projects, Stockholm, Sweden (2019); “Ri Ve Rr Hy Me Sw It Bb Lo Od”, Kate Werble Gallery, New York, NY (2019); “a, b, moon, d, Storm” King Art Center, New Windsor, NY and Stene Projects, Stockholm, SE (2015); “Time, women, stars, death, sleep, flowers, life, eyes, a river, dreams,” Kate Werble Gallery, New York, NY (2014); “This Single Monument, the Kitchen,” New York, NY (2014); “No Whiteness (lost) is so White as the Memory of Whiteness,” Stene Projects, Stockholm, SE (2012); “Eyes that are Like Two Suns,” Kate Werble Gallery, New York, NY (2011); and “The Fold,” Stene projects, Stockholm, SE (2010).

His work has been exhibited at venues such as the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Ridgefield, CT; Columbus Museum of Art, Columbus, OH; Shandaken Project, New York, NY; Museum of Printing, St. Petersburg, RU; Transformer Station, Cleveland, OH; Present Company, Brooklyn, NY; Vogt Gallery, New York, NY; practice gallery, Philadelphia, PA; Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, North Adams, MA; Manifesta 10, St. Petersburg, RU; DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, Lincoln, MA; Museum of Contemporary Art, Tucson, AZ; Wolfsonian Museum, Miami, FL; the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts, New York, NY; Exit Art, New York, NY; Hilary Crisp Gallery, London, UK; 179 Canal, New York, NY; and Vox Populi, Philadelphia, PA.

His work has been reviewed in publications such as Artforum, The Brooklyn Rail, The New York Times, The Columbus Dispatch, WhiteHot Magazine, Interview Magazine, Harpers Bazaar, The Village Voice, T Magazine, The New York Observer, Art in America, Art Review, Mousse Contemporary Art Magazine, Gallerist NY, Aperture, and The Boston Globe. He is the co-founder and editor of the online arts publication The Highlights.

Stettner was also an Artist in Residence at Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, New York, NY in 2013.
