Through giving and showing respect, we elevate our interactions with one another and create a work environment built on mutual civility. Dan Lehman, community service officer with Campus Safety, illustrates our shared commitment to respecting one another.
Fellow employees share these reflections of Lehman.
“Dan works with student groups while representing the department and excels in that area. You can tell that he truly cares about the students and even when interacting with a student when they have done wrong, Dan will show empathy and help to teach them a better way. When possible, Dan believes our goal during those times is to show what they did wrong and correct bad behavior. I have seen many students who were in trouble and could have become very resentful with the department become our friends and see why we perform our duties.”
“Dan is always friendly and polite to students and goes over and above in helping them in whatever ways possible in doing his job. One example would be; a student needed help, not only did Dan help but he also helped more. This is only one example of how I have seen Dan go over and above what some other colleagues would do to assist our students.”
“Dan always provides support to his colleagues on projects and is always willing to fill in on any shift where coverage is needed due to illness, vacation, or vacancies. In the past 2 months, Dan has worked on all shifts, which I’m sure has been a hardship on his personal life.”
“Dan is always kind and respectful of his fellow team members, staff, facility, students and guests. He interacts well with all types of individuals and cultures and treats all with dignity and kindness. Dan is a good communicator and even in disagreement can find common ground with people.”
