Induction Ceremony
Welcoming the incoming class
The Induction Ceremony for the Class of 2028 was held on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024. Watch the video below!
Each year, Denison welcomes the newest members of its student community at the Induction Ceremony. As part of this ceremony, held outdoors on Reese~Shackelford Common, members of the faculty and staff greet and applaud the new class, which processes along Chapel Walk before arriving at the Common.
The president formally welcomes the new class with a charge to excellence and service over the next four years. In addition to the president, speakers include the student body president of the Denison Campus Governance Association (DCGA), the chair of the faculty, and others. Also included is the premiere performance of a musical fanfare that has been commissioned specifically for the class. Four years later, at the class’ Commencement exercises, the fanfare is performed for the second and final time. Parents and other family members are encouraged to attend this very special ceremony for their incoming students.
The Induction Ceremony is recorded and posted here for those who are unable to attend.
