Vaccines
Students and employees are strongly encouraged to receive the Covid vaccine and stay up-to-date on boosters. The vaccine is still one of the most effective ways of protecting oneself and others. Vaccination also reduces the risk of long Covid.
Students and employees should review the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention vaccine recommendations.
Masks
While not required except under the circumstances described in the Covid management section below, Denison supports anyone who wishes to wear a mask.
Anyone experiencing Covid or cold symptoms, even after a negative Covid test, should remember that many respiratory viruses circulate within our community. Please be considerate and wear a mask if you have any cold-like symptoms.
Covid and Respiratory Virus Guidance
Denison follows CDC guidance for preventing the spread of Covid and respiratory viruses.
If you are experiencing a respiratory virus, including testing positive for COVID-19:
- Do not go to classes or work until you have been fever-free for 24 hours without fever-lowering medications AND your symptoms are improving. Staff are encouraged to use sick time.
- Taking precautions is also important for respiratory viral infections without fever.
- Once you return to your normal activities, take additional precautions for 5 days to prevent the spread of infection to others: wear a well-fitting mask, take steps to improve airflow, limit close contact with others, and practice good hygiene like washing hands frequently and covering coughs and sneezes.
- If fever returns or symptoms worsen, return to the stay-home phase.
- Please note that the new CDC guidance does not apply to workers in healthcare settings. Refer to CDC guidelines for additional instructions.
